Posted by admin in Entertainment Travel, History and Culture, Shopping and Souvenirs, Travel Destinations on 07 22nd, 2008The Sydney Opera House, considered to be Australia’s landmark was finished in 1973 and is one of the most wonderful buildings ever made. It is also considered as one of the most unique buildings of the 20th century because it is not your typical opera house. It is the fruit of the artistic minds and experimental interpretation of reality of painters. It is located on Bennelong Point in Sydney, New South Wales in Australia.

The Sydney Opera House is a good venue to hold different musical, theater and ballet productions. It covers 4.5 acres of land that is 605 feet long and 388 feet wide. This opera house is made of the finest construction materials in the world. Its roof is made of shiny white and matte cream self-cleaning Swedish tiles. Its interiors on the other hand are made from pink granite mined in Tarana and the finest plywoods from Wauchope in NSW.
Its facilities include the Concert Hall, the Opera Theatre, Drama Theatre, Playhouse, The Studio, the Uzton Rool and the Forecourt. Conferences and social functions are also held right here in the Sydney Opera House. In fact, this was where the UNESCO World Heritage was held in June 2007.

Posted by admin in Entertainment Travel, History and Culture, Travel Destinations on 06 21st, 2008One of the New Seven Wonders of the World is the Colosseum or Coliseum in Italy which is originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre. The Coloseum is considered as one of the greatest creation that is a fruit of the Roman architecture and engineering. This elliptical coliseum is the largest ever built during the Roman Empire and is located in the center of Rome, Italy. This historical place is where cruel fights and games of thousands of spectators took place several years ago.

Between 70 and 72 AD, the time of Emperor Vespasian, was when the construction of Colosseum started. This famous historical place was then completed under Titus in 80AD while modifications were still made during the era of Domitan in 81 to 96 AD.
This amphitheater was originally capable of accommodating 50,000 spectators and was used as the venue for gladiatorial contests and public exhibitions. It was only used for almost half a millennium with the last games held here was in the late 6th century.
After more than a thousand of years of standing on the land of Italy, the Colosseum had already suffered from several earthquakes and stone robbers. But still, this amphitheater remains to be one of the most popular tourist spots in Rome.
Do You Suffer from Altitude Sickness when Riding a Plane?
Posted by admin in Business Travel, Entertainment Travel, General Travel on 02 15th, 2008We can travel by car, by train and even by plane. Traveling is so tiring especially if you stay long hours inside the car, train or other vehicles and just waiting for you to reach your destination. Others feel dizzy and even nauseous when traveling for long hours in a car. On the other hand, some of those who travel by plane suffer from altitude sickness.
What is altitude sickness? This is usually felt by people who are not used to traveling at higher altitudes that make them suffer from headaches, dehydration and even difficulty in breathing. It is usually caused by dry air, decrease in oxygen and low barometric pressure.
If you travel from one country to another, or other long and distant trips, you have no choice but to get used to higher altitudes because there’s no other way to reach your destination but to ride a plane. The only thing you could do is to prevent this sickness by getting yourself used to higher altitudes than you’re normally exposed to. Try out wall or rock climbing or even mountain climbing if possible and this will help you reduce altitude sickness when you travel by plane.
If it is not possible to do these things, consult your doctor before traveling or take a drug called acetazolamide that prevents and controls altitude sickness.
Choosing the Right Luggage
Posted by admin in Business Travel, Cars and Road Travel, Cruising and Sailing, Entertainment Travel, Equipment and Gear, General Travel on 01 26th, 2008Traveling to different places would require you a luggage to contain necessary stuffs you need to bring along with you. Choosing the right luggage for you to use is not as easy as others think. Some of the things you have to consider when choosing your luggage is the space it can provide to contain the things you need to bring, its durability and most importantly the carriage limit in the airport and a lot others.
Carriage limits are strict and bringing luggage more than allowed would cause a lot of hassles as well as additional expenses to you. To avoid delays caused by this, plan the things you will bring and bring only the things you need. Bring clothes that you can wear without letting other people notice that you just wore the same set of clothes the other day. What I mean is to bring clothes that you can style and accessorize so that you bring less but you style and still look perfect.
However, there are certain situations that you really have to bring a lot of things so you need to use another luggage to contain all the stuffs you need. If this is the case, choose the suitcase that is spacious but not too heavy. You have your limits and don’t let the weight of your suitcase hinder you from bringing all the stuffs you need. You also have to check the reliability and durability of the luggage you will buy. Nobody wants to buy a disposable luggage anyway. There are certain brands that offer warranty to their products and availing for those products could help you be free from troubles during your travel.
Well others would consider the color of their luggage too. Some want it to have the color that they like while others prefer black, navy blue or other dark colors for simplicity and less maintenance. Stains on a dark-colored luggage can be left unnoticeable, so it won’t require you to clean it while you’re on your vacation.
